    Product description

The Maitake (Grifola frondosa) Liquid Culture Syringe -20 ML contains liquid mycelium developed from pure mushroom cultures, enriched with high-quality malt and yeast extracts. This liquid mycelium is more efficient than spores, resulting in faster and more even colonization. In addition, the final grain spawn is 20% more active compared to traditional methods. The Maitake mushroom, also known as Grifola frondosa, has been valued in Asian cuisine and medicine for centuries. Recent scientific studies have focused on the possible health benefits of this mushroom. Whether used in cooking, as a supplement, or for its health benefits, Maitake remains popular.

    Contents

These items are further packaged in a zip lock bag to further protect against contamination.

    • 1x 20ml liquid culture in a syringe
    • 1x alcohol swab
    • 1x sterile needle

    Use

    • Add 1-2ml per 1L jar of sterilized grain.
    • Shake the liquid culture well before use
    • Be patient after inoculation. Maitake mycelium has a slow and sometimes irregular growth. It may look like there is no growth, but the process has probably already started.

    After use

    • Refrigerate.
    • Dry the needle thoroughly with a new alcohol wipe before replacing the protective cap to prevent rust.
    • Optional: Use a lighter to heat the needle and evaporate any remaining water. Then let it cool before replacing the cap.
    • Place the liquid culture in a ziplock bag for extra protection and place it back in the refrigerator.

These instructions will ensure that the liquid culture remains effective and usable for as long as possible.

What substrate do we grow on?

A specific bulk substrate is required for large-scale Maitake cultivation. You can use different types of hardwood for this, such as hardwood (poplar, oak, alder, maple, birch, ash, beech, elm) mixed with bran. Another popular mix is the 'master's mix', which contains an equal ratio of hardwood sawdust and soy hulls. If you prefer a more natural approach, it is also possible to cultivate Maitake directly on hardwood trunks outdoors.
